Make Do and Mend Day

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, and to coincide with an exhibition depicting the 80th anniversary of VE Day from our , we are having a themed day of #MakeDoAndMend.
The ‘Make Do and Mend’ campaign was introduced by the British government to reduce clothing consumption and save resources during World War II.
will bring skilled people to help you mend your broken items between 2-4pm. During this, at 2.30pm, there will be a talk about the Hay Box, a sustainable method of cooking used in wartime. In the evening from 6-7.30pm will be Stitch Club where you can learn to mend your well-loved clothes.
All free and hosted in the in the basement! Students, staff and members of the public all welcome.
It will also be mental health , so come wearing something green (optional) and post on Instagram: #MakeDoAndMend #SustainableFashion
